K-pop idol group Girls Generation rules.
Mere three days after release, the girls' newest album “Oh!” has topped the sales charts of three Music One stores (Glorietta, Greenbelt, and Quezon Avenue), based on data covering the period March 15 to 21.
This is the second time that a Girls Generation’s album has topped Philippine music charts. Their mini-album “Gee” also debuted at No. 1 when it was released in October last year.
“Oh!” was also No. 1 on the MYX countdown a few weeks ago and is still in the Top 3 music videos on MYX charts.
Last March 20, Filipino fans showed their support to the group when they trooped to the country’s music retail chains Astroplus Mall Of Asia,
The album was also a big hit in South Korea, garnering almost 150,000 pre-orders before its release last January.
The carrier single “Oh!”, created by songwriter Kenzie, an electro-pop song with sweet lyrics about confessing love, also topped music charts in South Korea.
“Oh!” has won five Music Bank K-Chart trophies and a Mutizen triple crown on Inkigayo TV program.
The “Oh!” album First Press Limited Edition released in the country comes with a special photo card (1 of 9 randomly selected designs).
Girls Generation is a nine-member all-girl group that debuted in 2007. The members are Taeyeon, Yuri, Yoona, Jessica, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, and Sunny.
The group dominated the K-pop scene in 2009 with their hit songs “Gee” and “Genie.”
